Letter to INEC-Declare Me Kogi Governor-Elect, Falake

The running mate to late Abubakar Audu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Saturday’s governorship election in Kogi State, has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to declare him governor elect.

James Falake, in a November 26 letter to INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, insisted that under Section 187 of the 1999 Constitution, he was duly elected as deputy governor of Kogi State.

While expressing sadness over the demise of his principal, Abubakar Audu, the deputy governorship candidate said INEC had no right under the law to declare the election inconclusive.

He accused INEC of deliberately creating what he called “legal conundrum” and urged the APC not to be a party to the action.

“In law and logic, no new candidate can inherit or be a beneficiary of the votes already cast, counted and declared by INEC before that candidate was nominated and purportedly sponsored,” Mr. Faleke wrote through his counsel, Wole Olanipekun.

“Assuming without conceding that INEC is even right to order a supplementary election, the votes already cast, counted and declared on Saturday, 25th November 2015, were votes for the joint constitutional ticket of Prince Abubakar Audu and our client.

“Therefore, no new or ‘supplementary’ candidate can hijack, aggregate, appropriate or inherit the said votes.”

In another letter to APC Chairman, John Oyegun, Mr. Falake urged his party to distance itself from the “Greek Gift” being offered to it to nominate a new candidate for a planned supplementary election in 91 polling units.

He said the election had already being won and lost, and that the party should rather support him in actualizing the mandate already given to APC and its candidates.

NNPC fault vandals, corrupt oil marketers on fuel scarcity

The NNPC in a statement to the Senate Committee on Petroleum Downstream in Abuja, said that the Senate had given it a two-week ultimatum to end the fuel scarcity.
The Senate Committee, Managing Director of the Pipelines and Product Marketing Company, PPMC, a subsidiary of the NNPC, Mrs. Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue, stated that  Nigeria has lost a total of 531 million litres of petrol valued at over N50 billion to pipeline vandals between January and September, 2015, at the System 2B Pipeline network which covers from the Atlas Cove in Lagos to Ilorin.

Nnamdi-Ogbue said that the continuous vandalization of pipeline at the Arepo to Mosimi axis of the pipeline artery, have made the supply of petroleum products to retail outlets difficult.

She said PPMC is doing everything they can to make sure they supply truck-out from depots in Lagos, Oghara and recently Calabar.

She, however, noted that the efforts to supply enough fuel across the country are being hampered by the activities of some unscrupulous marketers involved in hoarding and diverting of petroleum products for sale in black markets across the country.
She said:

“We view this as a distortion to the economy and we have invited the DSS and the EFCC to take action.”

Hold Banks responsible for granting Wike loans, APC warns

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has warned banks not to grant further loans to the state Governor, Nyesom Wike.

The state Chairman of APC, Dr. Davies Ikanya,  while addressing journalists in Port Harcourt yesterday evening, said banks that ignored the warning were working against the interest of the state.

Ikanya alleged that Wike had, within five months of his administration, squandered an initial N30 billion bank loan on road projects which he said were not commensurate with the amount spent.

He also alleged that Wike was planning to take another N10 billion loan, saying the governor had no cause to go for such a fresh loan, his election having being overturned at the election petitions tribunal.

“I am not going to mention names but these banks but they know themselves. Whose interest are they protecting by giving out loans to Wike?

“The election of the governor had been annulled at the tribunal. Why is he going for loans again and for what purpose? I think I know why, but I will not disclosed the reason now.
“But I am warning the banks to stop giving out loans to Wike. If they persist, they will account for their actions”, he further warned.

How ELEVEN friends were fiercely gunned down side by side at Paris eatery

A group of 11 friends and colleagues were brutally wiped out in one fell swoop when two ISIS gunmen unleashed a hail of bullets at the La Belle Equipe café on Friday night.
They had gathered together for the 35th birthday party of a waitress called Houda Saadi, who worked at the nearby Café des Anges – meaning Café of Angels.
The Tunisian woman was joined by her 36-year-old sister Halima, a mother of two young boys, and her two brothers Khaled and Bashir.
Both Houda and Halima were slaughtered in the gunfire, and their brothers, who had miraculously survived unharmed, fought desperately to save their lives on the blood-smeared floor of the café.
Karim, 38, a father-of-two also of Tunisian descent, also rushed to help one of the sisters in her final moments.
'I knelt in the blood and held her, saying, ça ça, ça va, don't be afraid,' he told MailOnline.

'Her breathing was rattling, as if she was snoring, and I don't know if she saw me. There was nothing anybody could do.'
Khaled, who also worked at the Café des Anges, began giving one of his sisters CPR but his attempts were in vain.
One of the sisters passed away on the floor of the café while the other, who had been shot in the head, died later in hospital. See more photos after the cut...

ISIS vows to make Washington and EVERY nation involved in Syrian airstrikes 'suffer France's fate'

ISIS has issued a chilling new video warning that countries taking part in air strikes against Syria will suffer the same fate as Paris and claimed they will attack Washington D.C. next.
The specific threat against the US capital emerged as CIA director John Brennan warned that more atrocities will be committed against the West by the Islamist terror group.
In the film an armed fighter addresses the camera to say in Arabic: 'We say to the states that take part in the crusader campaign that, by God, you will have a day God willing, like France's and by God, as we struck France in the centre of its abode in Paris, then we swear that we will strike America at its centre in Washington.'
ISIS has already claimed responsibility for the coordinated terror attacks in Paris which killed at least 129 people. Another photo after the cut...

TERRIFYING!!! A lady r@ped 43,200 times?

A Mexican woman named Karla Jacinto has opened up on how she was coerced in sex slavery, and how she has been r@ped around 43,200 times.

According to CNN, Karla Jacinto believes she has been r@ped around 43,200 times after being forced to sleep with at least 30 men every day for four years.
In speaking about her torment at the hands of Mexico’s ruthless organised crime rings, Karla said her woes began at age twelve.
According to her, a trafficker lured her away from a dysfunctional home life with gifts, money and fast cars.  At the time she was lured, the trafficker was only 22-years-old. He convinced Karla to leave with him to Tenancingo, a Mexican town in the state of Tlaxcala.
The town is known as a major centre for human trafficking rings and a common place for victims to be taken and forced into prostitution.
Karla said she lived with her trafficker for three months before being taken to Guadalajara, one of Mexico’s largest cities and there she was forced to work as a prostitute.
She said: “I started at 10am and finished at midnight,” adding:  “Some men would make jest of me because I was crying. I had to close my eyes so that I wouldn’t see what they were doing to me, so that I wouldn’t feel anything.” She narrated.

PANIC in Raqqa as France drops series of massive bombs on ISIS

Reports says that, French fighter jets have carried out a series of 'massive' air strikes on Raqqa, destroying a key ISIS command centre and a training camp in Syria.
The heavy bombing raid comes just two days after the militant group claimed coordinated attacks in Paris that killed 130 people so far, the defence ministry said.
'The raid ... including 10 fighter jets, was launched simultaneously from the United Arab Emirates and Jordan. Twenty bombs were dropped,' the statement said.
The operation, carried out in coordination with U.S. forces, struck a command centre, recruitment centre for jihadists, a munitions depot and a training camp for fighters, it said. Activists inside Syria have suggested that no civilian casualties have been sustained in the Raqqa bombings.
Water supplies and electricity have reportedly been cut as a result of the air strikes, with activists claiming there has been 'panic' inside the city.
The revenge airstrikes in Syria comes as French police broadcast the name and image of Salah Abdeslam, a 26-year-old born in Brussels, across Europe, warning that he is very dangerous. 'Do not intervene yourself,' his warrant says.
Salah Abdeslam is wanted in connection with the deadly Paris attacks on Friday, in which it is believed he played a key part in planning the operations.
His brother, Ibrahim, was one of the seven suicide bombers in the devastating terror attacks. Salah is thought to be on the run.

Ahmed Almuhamed-One of the Paris terror suspects 'was rescued near Greece'

Greek newspaper claims to have discovered the 25-year-old and a family member, called Mohammed Almuhmed, were rescued from a wrecked migrant boat that had sunk on the journey from Syria. According to Serbian media, a Syrian passport belonging to Ahmed Almuhamed was found at the scene of the attack at the Stade de France.

The rescued men were brought to the island of Leros on October 3. They were among a convoy of 69 refugees who were registered and had their fingerprints taken before continuing on their journey.
The newspaper Protothema says the men's passports were checked but the island authorities did not have the ability to determine whether their documents were real or not.
Ferry tickets found by the newspaper allegedly showed he and his companion were transferred to Kalymnos to catch the ferry that would take them to the port of Piraeus in Athens.
The tickets, from Kalymnos to Piraeus, were issued by Blue Star ferries and they travelled onboard the Diagoras.
Greece’s deputy minister in charge of police, Nikos Toscas, said he was ‘identified [as a refugee] according to EU rules’ as he passed through the country.
According to Serbian authorities, the men had arrived in the country by October 7.
A statement from a minister said Almuhamed had requested asylum in the town of Presevo in Serbia before crossing into Croatia and Austria.

Pro-Biafra protests a total waste of time-Fr. Mbaka

Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has condemned the recent protests for Biafra, describing the action as evil.
Fr. Mbaka made the condemnation on Saturday in Enugu during a sermon at his weekly Adoration Ministry where he urged youths in the South East and South-South to go back to their homes and businesses as the protest could lead to their death.

According to NAN, he said:
“Locking up your shops and disrupting economic activities will not add any naira to your pocket, whatever grievance you have could be resolved through dialogue,” the cleric said.
He also lashed out at leaders that were behind the protests, saying they should use their own children for the struggle not the public.
Fr. Mbaka commended President Muhammadu Buhari's appointment of ministers from the zone and assigning them with good positions.
“President Buhari’s action has proven that the South-East has not been marginalised. I would have reacted if no minister emerged from the zone,” he said.
He blamed Igbo leaders for the bad infrastructures in the regions.
He said: “President Buhari is not the cause of poor roads, unemployment and other decay infrastructures in the South East, we should blame our leaders.
“Most of the roads had been awarded but our leaders squandered the fund, even the university teaching hospital in Enugu is a no-go-area and our leaders are not concerned about it,” he said.
Fr. Mbaka called on the new Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, to use his office to employ youths in the zone, adding that it would stop what he called another Boko Haram in the South East if not speedily addressed.

Jose Mourinho a surprise figure at CR7 premiere

One might have expected Jose Mourinho to be lying low right now, but the under-fire Chelsea boss has never been one to shy away from the limelight.

Perhaps, then, it was inevitably that the Portuguese would turn up for the premiere of compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo's new movie on Monday.

Mourinho, who was banned from attending Chelsea's Premier League loss to Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday, was invited to Leicester Square for the first screening of the documentary charting a year in the life of the Real Madrid ace, despite reports that the pair's relationship became strained during Mourinho's time in charge at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Mourinho was not the only big name from the world of football in attendance, with Ronaldo's former boss at Manchester United, Alex Ferguson, also gracing the red carpet.

Elsewhere, Gary Neville conducted an interview with his old team-mate, while another ex-Red Devil, Louis Saha, also made an appearance.

There were no shortage of celebrities either, with the likes of Olivia Wayne and Melanie Sykes adding some glitz and glamour to a special night for Ronaldo, who was joined at the event by his son and mother.

PDP Faults Presidency Over The Sack of Another Governor

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cried out and vehemently rejects the dismissal of the Governor of Taraba State, Darius Ishaku, by the State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.

PDP accused the presidency of manipulating the judiciary against it and claimed that the court’s decision was another proof of executive interference by the APC government in judicial matters.

PDP and the sacked governor has a lot to say about the judgement...

Ishaku himself dismissed the tribunal’s verdict as totally unacceptable even as some residents of Jalingo openly celebrated after news of the development filtered in from Abuja where it was delivered.

APC National Woman Leader, Hajiya Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, hailed the ruling as victory for democracy.

The tribunal had proclaimed Hajia Aisha Jummai Alhassan, the APC candidate in the election, as winner.

It said Ishaku was not properly nominated by PDP and therefore was not qualified to contest the election.

Ishaku is the third PDP governor after Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom and Nyesom Wike of Rivers to lose at election tribunal after the April elections.

The PDP had earlier blamed the federal government, the judiciary and INEC for its woes.

Reacting to the verdict, PDP said the reason given by the tribunal for arriving at the decision was intriguing and only exposed what it dubbed contradictions and double standards inherent in most tribunal rulings against its interests as well as organized plan to deploy all unorthodox means to decimate them.

“Evidence that Taraba ruling was a product of presidency manipulation can be deduced from the fact that few hours before the judgment was delivered, the APC had arrogantly announced their victory on the new media,” PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh said in a statement.

He also faulted the premise on which the tribunal based its decision, saying: “it is rather curious and a great conflict of irony that the Taraba tribunal sitting in Abuja on security grounds faulted the conduct of PDP primaries shifted to the same Abuja on security reasons.”

The party argued that if the tribunal faulted PDP primaries, it then means that no APC gubernatorial candidate can stand the test because, according to him, the APC never had acceptable primaries in any of the states it won.

He said: “the PDP wants democracy watchers globally to recall that it had earlier alerted the nation and the international community to the grand design by the APC to use the judiciary to wrestle some PDP states, particularly Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Taraba states.

He said the PDP is totally confounded by what he called the brazing show of power by the executive and warned that the development clearly portends grave danger to democracy and indeed national cohesion and development.

In Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, Mr. Ishaku dismissed the tribunal’s verdict that voided his election as totally unacceptable.

“This is totally unacceptable. I have told my legal counsel to proceed to the Court of Appeal immediately.”
He said, “I’m going to appeal the judgment. So I want the people of Taraba to remain calm. It is the mandate that they overwhelmingly gave me that I am serving the state. We shall do everything possible within the ambit of the law to see that their will is not thwarted.”

But APC's Hajiya Aliyu said the will of the people freely expressed through the ballot cannot be upturned at the whims and caprices of a few individuals.

The ruling, according to her “is a clear affirmation that no matter how long it takes, never will the verdict of the people during elections be manipulated against their popular choice as expressed through the ballot box. Indeed, by the ruling, it has been proven that in a true democracy, sovereignty ultimately resides with the inviolable will of the people.”

She commended the judiciary for its “boldness and unfettered commitment to the sacred principles of honour, good conscience and the truth. Indeed, it has shown that its role as the defender of the defenceless in a democracy remains strong and sacred.”

She asked Nigerian women to “rally support for the Tribunal’s ruling, especially in the circumstance that it remains a priceless watershed in our political history for our great Part to produce the first elected female Governor in Nigeria as desired and manifestly expressed by the electorate in Taraba State.”

Soon after news of the tribunal’s verdict reached Jalingo, residents of Agwan Gaadi, Barde way, Wuro-Sambo and Angwani areas took to the streets in jubilation.

APC supporters were seen jubilating and shouting “APC!, Sai Baba!!

British jet escaped missile while approaching Sharm El Sheikh

A Thomson flight carrying 189 passengers had to escape a rocket as it approached Sharm El Sheikh. Reports states the the London Stansted flight was said to have come "within 1,000ft" of the deadly missile and only avoided it after the pilot took evasive action.

It eventually landed safely and the passengers on board were not told about the brush with certain death.
The incident came two months before a Russian airliner crashed after taking off from the Egyptian resort on Saturday killing all 224 on board.

It is thought a bomb planted by terror group Islamic State is the most likely cause of the tragedy prompting the UK to suspend all commercial flights to and from the resort on Wednesday.
The Department for Transport has confirmed the incident involving the British jet which happened on August 23.
A source said: "The first officer was in charge at the time but the pilot was in the cockpit and saw the rocket coming towards the plane.
"He ordered that the flight turn to the left to avoid the rocket, which was about 1,000ft away,"
It is thought the five members of cabin crew only found out about the incident after landing and were offered the chance to stay the night in Egypt.

However they are said to have chosen to head straight back to the UK.
The source added that the missile that nearly struck the Thomson jet was also spotted by another of the carrier’s planes as it approached Sharm El Sheikh.

It is reported they were told the rocket was from an Egyptian military exercise but now think otherwise following Saturday's incident.

We will redeem our campaign promise to pay N5k monthly to unemployed youths – APC

Barely two days after the senators from the APC voted against the senate moving a motion in favor of the bill seeking for Nigerians to be paid N5,000 allowance on November 4th. The leadership of the ruling APC has released a statement saying they will not renege on their campaign promise of paying N5,000 to 25 million unemployed Nigeria youths. The statement which was signed by the party's National Publicity secretary, Lai Mohammed, reads...

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has assured Nigerians that it will not renege on its campaign promise to pay 5,000 Naira each monthly to 25 million most vulnerable Nigerians, while calling on the citizens to ignore the mischievous attempt by the PDP to confuse and mislead them on this issue. In a statement issued in Abuja on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said even though the PDP-led Federal Government plundered the common wealth in its time, it (APC) has devised creative means not only to pay the money but also to fulfill its other campaign promises to Nigerians. It said the non-implementation of the payment policy so far is due to the fact that it was not included in the 2015 budget, which was prepared by the PDP-led Jonathan Administration, and also because of the need to first block all financial leakages. ”Now, the Buhari administration has been busy putting into place measures that will make it possible to start the implementation of this project. Such measures include the introduction of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) ”We are happy to inform Nigerians that as at the end of September 2015, over 1.4 trillion Naira – which hitherto was lying unproductively in various commercial banks – has been recovered and paid into the TSA,” APC said. The party said that in its usual jumpy and superficial approach to issues, the irresponsible opposition has already rushed to judgement on the issue without bothering to hear from the APC, which made the promise in the first instance. ”Had the PDP not sacrificed the truth on the altar of political expediency, it would have realized that the APC never at any time indicated it has reneged on its promise to pay 5,000 Naira monthly to 25 million most vulnerable Nigerians. In our press statement of Aug. 30th 2015, we still reiterated our plan to redeem our campaign promises, including the social security payment policy, despite the primitive looting of the treasury under the watch of the PDP. ”It is therefore astonishing that the same PDP, which is becoming more and more infamous for its penchant for peddling half truths and sensationalizing every issue, will rush to the press to celebrate the figment of its imagination that the APC will not fulfill its campaign promise regarding the payment,” it said. The APC said the Buhari administration is also embarking on a massive infrastructure renewal programme in the areas of roads, rail and power, for which a 2.5-billion-dollar Infrastructure Fund is being put in place. ”Contrary to the disinformation being peddled by the PDP, the Buhari administration is poised to lift millions of Nigerians out of extreme poverty by providing social protection and safety nets with another 2.5 trillion Naira Special Intervention Fund,” the party said.

Gunners humiliated in Munich as Late Willian stunner gives Mourinho lifeline at the bridge

Bayern Munich cruised to a 5-1 victory over Arsenal at the Allianz Arena to leave the Gunners on the brink of elimination from the Champions League.

Arsenal ended Bayern's 12-match winning run with a 2-0 triumph at Emirates Stadium two weeks ago, but there was little prospect of a repeat from the moment Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring after 10 minutes.

Mesut Ozil had a close-range effort ruled out for handball before Pep Guardiola's team established total dominance of the match.

Thomas Muller doubled the lead with a deflected shot and David Alaba scored a stunning long-range third to round off a first-half masterclass.

Full-back Alaba turned provider for Arjen Robben in the 54th minute, with the winger netting 37 seconds after coming on as a substitute to put the result beyond doubt.

Olivier Giroud hit a fine 69th-minute consolation before Muller restored Bayern's four-goal cushion with his second of the game in the last minute.

Bayern are on the verge of progressing to the knockout phase but anything less than victories over Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiacos - coupled with a Bayern victory over the Greek side - will see Arsenal eliminated.

At Stamford bridge in London, Willian  scored a brilliant late free-kick to give Chelsea a much-needed 2-1 victory over Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League, and earn under-fire Jose Mourinho some breathing space.

Aleksandar Dragovic had diverted the Brazilian's cross into his own net late in the first half, but the Ukrainian side made it a nervous second period for the hosts, and they looked to have grabbed a shock point when the defender atoned for his own goal by netting a late equaliser.

But, with seven minutes remaining, Willian intervened in some style to give Chelsea a potentially crucial three points, much to the delight of the Stamford Bridge crowd.

The win will come as a huge relief to Mourinho, who had overseen only one win in Chelsea's previous eight games in all competitions and was once again the subject of plenty of headlines in the build-up, amid speculation over his future and talk of dressing room unrest.

The fans, though, have rarely wavered in their support of the Portuguese and he was consistently cheered by the home supporters throughout Wednesday's match.

Victory moves Chelsea up to second place in Group G, three points behind leaders Porto but two clear of Kyiv going into the final two games.
